iBuyYa Abaya™ FAQ’s

“What is iBuyYa Abaya™?”

iBuyYa Abaya is a Thrift Store for Modest Attire

Donate, Buy and Re-Sell Gently Used Modest and Islamic wear.

“When will iBuyYa Abaya™ open?” Where is iBuyYa Abaya’s™ location?”

We hope to open by next Ramadan, insha'Allah. iBuyYa Abaya has a Storage Facility only at this time. We are in the first phase. Phase one is building inventory through donations and building financial stability through fundraising. The reason we are doing so - so no haram usury is involved. Allah promises to sustain those whom seek halal means only.

“What will the GofundMe™ and Crowdfunding™ Funds be used for?”

Funds from GoFundMe and Crowdfunding will be used to generate stability.

The funds will be used to secure a lease, provide a safe and stable store front, and to complete a modest renovation.

“Is iBuyYa Abaya™ making money off any of the donations?”

Funds generated initially will be used to ensure all business costs are covered and taken care of. Our main goal is to establish a well known, safe and secure thrift store location for our Muslim Community without haram usury involved. Cash flow is not expected right away, but expected in the future.

“How will iBuyYa Abaya's™ future cash flow be used once initial opening costs are covered?”

Future cash flow will be used to convert volunteers to paid employees, enhance security and to scale the business.

“How will iBuyYa Abaya's™ future cash flow be used to scale the business?

We plan to scale the business by establishing a well known consignment concept, explained below.

Stores in Calgary today like Plato's© and Once Upon a Child© use their income to offer Cash or Store Credit for better condition items. Items that people wouldn’t wish to donate, Items that customers don't want to lose money on. This helps muslims in need to get money back for items they have spent on, while also generating better quality items for the store.

“Tell us more about why you are starting this business?”

Dressing modestly strengthens our iman, ummah and especially our youth. Staying on my hijab journey was hard as a convert.

I took my hijab off due to bullying, not having my own style, and not having a complete wardrobe. Thinking back to when I was younger forces me to repeat a lot of questions in my mind. If I had a place to turn to for help on my hijab journey that was free of judgement, if I had a place to go for items that were at more reduced price, if I had a place to discover my own style, would I have had an easier time becoming and staying modest as a hijabi? I struggled for many years to build up the courage and confidence to wear my hijab and modest attire permanently. I was only able to afford the wardrobe I have today because of student grants. Not everyone can be so lucky - especially our youth and women in need.

Part of being an islamic business is transparency and honesty!

There will be a lot of work on our end, that all of our volunteers are willing and truly love to do. The success and return is all from Allah, may he put barakah in this business from the beginning, ameen. We know we can do this!

The idea of second hand purchasing has been around forever.  Let's be the pioneers in making second hand solutions accessible for Modest & Islamic Clothing in Calgary.
